Some catching up to do...

Here's what's been going on the past couple of weeks. Josh left for CFA's annual seminar in Long Beach, CA on February 12th. He had to go earlier than most people to help set up all the network stuff so he was gone for a week! Since it was Valentine's weekend and he would be gone, I decided to invite my Mom down for a girls weekend and we had a great time!

Dozer smelling Josh's suitcase and getting curious. He always knows when we are leaving and he will not leave your side for fear of being left. It's so sad and almost makes you not want to go anywhere.
I think this is when he figured out Josh was packing, he just sat by the suitcase with his sad face. Daddy sad that he leaving for a week!

I let Josh take my camera to seminar but I forgot to send the charger with him and it died right after taking only one picture. This is the EXPO, basically it's where all of the departments in corporate set up and the operators of the CFA stores come by to ask questions, give feedback, etc. I've never seen pics of this before and was surprised and how modern it is, very cool and I can't wait to be able to go experience it for myself :)
Mom got into town on Thursday and I took the day off on Friday. Unfortunately I had a 4 hour dentist appt but then got to go relax with a facial at Aveda! I also got inspired by Tara and the Nester to work on some window treatments for the house. I, like the Nester, live in a rental and didn't want to spend too much money so I told Mom all about it and we decided to make window treatments. Little did I know it would turn into such a big project. I am obviously not very craft, which I already knew, but just validated it once again. We worked ALL weekend, made about 8 different trips to different stores, stayed up till all hours of the night but in the end we hung treatments on 12 windows and created my own little cabana. I must say I'm very happy with the outcome, I didn't spend very much money at all considering how many windows and it really makes the place seem warmer. I have to say thank you mom for hanging in there with me. I am not a very patient person so I learned some great lessons on patience from her that weekend. I could not and would not have finished this project without you Mom, so thank you!!!!!

We did manage to have some fun that weekend too. We went to Brio for Italian on Friday night after getting treated to facials that day. Then on Saturday I took her to this great little bakery right up the street for her to pick out some Valentine treats, that's what you see above, YUM!
Kitchen before

Kitchen after. This was actually the easiest, 6 yards of fabric for $6, hemmed with hem tape on the sides. I have a print, and dishtowels with this color in it and it really compliments the cabinets too! I love how this room turned out!
Random window in kitchen

Dining room/mixed use room :) before

After, please don't mind the tape. I forgot to take a final after picture and didn't realize it until now :) Obviously the masking tape is not part of the treatment. Did I mention how hard and time consuming these were, no sew, no rods, just fabric that cost $1 a yard and a cute beaded tassel :)

Living room before

Living room afterwardsFront porch cabana, I just love this...you'll have to come over and porch sit with us!
I hung sheers in the master bedroom too but am not done playing with them yet so I'll post pics of them later.
So after that weekend Mom went home and Josh got back into town on Thursday. Me, Dozer and Jason were all glad to have him back. We didn't do anything last weekend but relax so I don't have any pictures except for the following depressing ones. Just when the 3 of us were having a nice relaxing weekend Jason walked to the neighborhood convenience store and realized that his car had been broken into. They shattered his window with a rock, stole his new GPS system and his XM Radio. It's just sickening to me that people steal from others, I just don't understand it. Here are some pics we took, and this time I won't say enjoy.

Glass all over the road
and all in the car, that is the rock in the floor board
more glass.
Well that should catch you up. Josh's parents are coming in this weekend so we are looking forward to spending time with them. Have a great weekend!

You did a great job with the windows! Dont you just love how cheap it was and it looks fantastic. I particularly like the ones in your living room. I am thinking of doing something like this in Connors room and another bathroom. Thanks for showing them off. That really stinks about Jasons car. I had a similar thing happen to me too when we first moved to Nash. Fortunately nothing was stolen just some drunk threw a beer bottle through the window. It was still a pain to get fixed though.
